Currently a twelfth grade student at Chaminade College School in Toronto, Ontario. Throughout my high school experience I have always striven for success in my academics. I have faced many challenges throughout my high school years, whether it be the death of a student from our school, or emotional turbulence. Even though I was faced with such barriers, I have always managed to push forward. I might not be the brightest student in terms of academics, but my yearn for knowledge and success allows me to push through such barriers, and excel pass those whose talents surpass mine. Using such mentality, I have gained many awards from honor roll to top marks in some classes. My future goals is to continue my education at the post secondary level as a computer engineer. Applying both my love for science and math, I hope to be successful and continue to enjoy the road I have chosen to pursue.
Outside of my studies, I pursue other hobbies such as Chess, Volleyball, and Table Tennis. Ever since I was little I have always found an interest for games embedded with strategy. The game that ended up capturing my attention was chess. Now chess was only a hobby until I entered my schools Chess Team in grade 10. There I was met by challenging opponents, who would not only tested my abilities, but allow me to grow in my quest for the top. I ended up making the team, and to this day I have been committed to growing my knowledge of strategy and have become one of the top, if not the top player, on the team. In terms of sports, I have had my fair share of experience as I was on both my schools Volleyball and Table Tennis Team. An exceptional brain does not work at its maximum efficiency if its body is not in good condition. For this reason I make sure that I do not lack in terms of physical activities. Being on both these teams, I not only began to understand the principal functions of a team, but also the importance of each and every individual piece. Not only did I become more physically fit, but I was also given an environment that supported me, whether it was the coaches or the players, I always knew that I was not alone.
Besides all the activities on school and my academics, I have also done a fair share of volunteering. I have volunteered at Amesbury Community Center for quite a long time. Whether its from Canada Day, or after school homework help programs, I have always been involved. I see it as a way of giving back to my community, and I know it sounds a bit too cliché but its the truth. I went to Amesbury Community Center as a child to do a lot of programs as a kid. It ranged from soccer camp and basketball camp, to summer camp and march break camp. These camps not only filled my childhood memories with joy, but also allowed me to meet many of the peoples that I currently know today. So to me its a bit more than just volunteering, and more of a thank you for making my younger years so much more radiant than they should have been.
I take part in a few other activities free from the environment of my school. I am a musician in a concert band, and play the Alto Sax. I was first inspired by my music teacher Mr. Cheverie, who saw the talent in me and nurtured it to what it is today. The band I play in is called the Columbus Concert Band, and it performs at churches, festivals and competitions. Even though it has only been about a year since I have been in the band, I have extremely enjoyed my time with them. I am also an Alter Server at St.Bernard de Clairvaux Church, and have been doing it for about 5 years. I love going to church due to the fact that it feels like a safe haven form all the stress that I have accumulated throughout the week. It truly is a place where I have found peace in times of turmoil and help whenever it was necessary.
